Manchester City feel Valentino Livramento wants Etihad move
Manchester City are confident of landing Valentino Livramento this summer despite Newcastle United’s strong stance on the right-back.
According to Give Me Sport, Valentino Livramento remains a strong contender in Manchester City’s eyes to take over the right-back slot this summer. Pep Guardiola is eager to recruit the former Chelsea academy star, with Newcastle United maintaining their stance that the player is not for sale.
Manchester City have been busy in this window, as they made numerous signings during the mini-window designed for the Club World Cup. Pep Guardiola felt there were shortages in many positions as the club duly signed Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri to solve key issues in the squad.
With the club now participating in the FIFA Club World Cup, Manchester City will resume transfer activity once the competition ends. There are some more key areas to address such as the right-back slot, as Kyle Walker has no way back at the club.
The veteran defender is primed to depart the club, with a replacement already at the forefront of Guyardiola’s thoughts. Newcastle United’s Valentino Livramento appears to be Manchester City’s top target, with the club ready to pay a hefty fee for the defender.
Despite multiple reports stating they were in talks, those conversations may have hit an impasse as the Magpies are not overly entertaining the prospect of Livramento’s exit. Manchester City are still confident of landing the 22-year-old Newcastle United prospect, although it might take a huge effort from Guardiola’s side to get a deal over the line.
Newcastle United unlikely to sell Valentino Livramento
Newcastle United are uninterested in selling Livramento, and they might stick with their stance should Manchester City come knocking on their doors once more. The Magpies have no real interest nor need to sell the defender at the current moment, as he also has a contract there until 2028.
Manchester City do not have a solid enough right back despite Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes sharing time in the role. Hence, Guardiola would love to have 22-year-old Newcastle United prospect Valentino Livramento on his side, but there will be a massive challenge ahead to convince the Magpies to sell, which they might not.
