Brentford keen on sorting Yoane Wissa future
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing 28-year-old DR Congo international Yoane Wissa from Brentford in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Give Me Sport, Yoane Wissa has gained popularity in the Premier League market coming into the summer transfer window. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the 28-year-old Brentford striker after his exploits in the 2024/25 season.
In addition, the French-born attacker is a target for Nottingham Forest amid Chris Wood’s advancing age. However, a summer move will not be straightforward, with Brentford keen on sorting Wissa’s future after appointing Keith Andrews as Thomas Frank’s replacement as the head coach.
Yoane Wissa and his rise
Yoane Wissa has established himself as one of the most underrated strikers in the Premier League since joining Brentford from FC Lorient in August 2021. The Villeneuve-Saint-George native replaced Ollie Watkins and enjoyed a solid debut campaign at the West London club. However, he had to bide his time until Ivan Toney left to become an undisputed first-choice starter in the final third.
The 28-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 campaign, amassing 20 goals and five assists in 39 appearances across all competitions while striking an exceptional offensive partnership with Bryan Mbeumo. Meanwhile, the DR Congo international has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham, with his exploits for Brentford after helping the West London outfit finish in the top half of the Premier League.
A man in demand
Arsenal’s interest in Yoane Wissa is understandable. The Gunners are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window after Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz struggled to be prolific in the 2024/25 season. So, several candidates have emerged on Arsenal’s radar, with Wissa also a viable target for the North London club.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, Wissa has been on the North London club’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, even though they broke the bank to sign Dominic Solanke last summer. Wissa’s versatility makes him an appealing target for Tottenham, as the French-born striker can be Son Heung-min’s long-term replacement.
However, a summer move for the Brentford attacker may not see the light of day, as the Bees are keen on sorting out his future after appointing Keith Andrews as their new head coach. So, Arsenal and Tottenham face a waiting game to learn Wissa’s fate amid their interest in the 28-year-old DR Congo international.
