AS Roma demanding €35 million to sell Evan Ndicka
Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United will have to fork out €35 million to sign AS Roma defensive mainstay Evan Ndicka.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are all keen on acquiring the services of Evan Ndicka. While AS Roma are reluctant to sell one of their best players, they might not have many options to play with because of their financial situation.
Ndicka made a name for himself while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt. With his contract at the German club running out in 2023, multiple top clubs were after his signature. But, Roma managed to beat the competition to secure his services on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old centre-back has been ever-present in their team since the start. Last season, he was involved in a total of 51 matches and ended up contributing towards three goals. While he is a key part of their first-team plans and still has three years left on his deal, Ndicka could be on the move this summer.
Roma find themselves in a very difficult financial position. They need to make multiple sales to help balance their books and could sacrifice the Ivorian international as a result. They need to raise around €12-13 in capital gains to avoid sanctions and comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Ndicka’s departure could solve Roma’s financial crisis
While they are already working on a few sales, those are not good enough to bail them out. As a result, they could part ways with the 25-year-old, who would represent 100% profit as he came in for free. They have slapped a €35 million asking price on his head amidst interest from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle.
The Roma centre-back has already turned down a move to Marseille this summer, but he could be open to moving to the Premier League. Ruben Amorim prefers playing with a back three, and he certainly needs more quality at the back. Someone with the quality of Ndicka can certainly help their cause.
Meanwhile, the Gunners want to further strengthen their defensive rotation. But they can’t really offer him a prominent role, which could complicate things. As far as the Magpies are concerned, they need to freshen things up at the back with Dan Burn and Fabian Schar not getting any younger.
Ndicka could prove to be just the perfect signing for Eddie Howe’s team. However, all three clubs are not actively pushing to sign him yet, but he could certainly be a great acquisition for them.
