According to a report by TEAMtalk, Malick Fofana is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the Lyon winger has emerged as a target, with the Merseyside outfit making enquiring to sign him. Meanwhile, Les Gones will demand €50 million to sell the Belgian winger, with Chelsea and Liverpool also interested in him.

Malick Fofana and his French journey

Malick Fofana has come leaps and bounds since joining Lyon from KAA Gent in January 2024. The 20-year-old has gone from strength to strength in the last 18 months, establishing himself as one of the best young prospects in Ligue 1. He also enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign despite struggling with a few fitness issues.

The Belgian winger contributed to 17 goals in 2,280 minutes of game time across 41 outings in all competitions by finding the back of the net 11 times and providing six assists. However, Lyon’s relegation to Ligue 2 has left the youngster’s future uncertain. Fofana has no shortage of suitors, with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Everton vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

A man in demand

Chelsea will dip into the market for a wide attacker in the summer transfer window after sending Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United. In addition, Mykhailo Mudryk is indefinitely out after failing a doping test several months ago. So, Chelsea must sign a winger this summer, with Fofana emerging as a viable target.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Malick Fofana is understandable. The Reds are combing the market for a versatile attacker coming into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Luis Diaz’s long-term future. So, the Lyon winger is an option worth considering for Liverpool.

As for Everton, Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom have returned to their parent clubs after their loan deals ended. So, the Toffees are keen on bolstering their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker, with Fofana emerging as a viable target. They have already submitted an enquiry to Lyon to learn the conditions of a possible deal.

Meanwhile, the troubled French club will demand around €50 million to part ways with Fofana in the summer transfer window. While Lyon’s situation makes the price tag excessive, the final fee to sign the 20-year-old Belgian winger may reach around €50 million if Chelsea, Liverpool, and Everton engage in a bidding war.
