Chelsea have agreed to pay €65 million for Jamie Gittens

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over a €65 million deal for the signing of Jamie Gittens.

According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea are closing in on the signature of Jamie Gittens. The Borussia Dortmund attacking sensation is on the verge of securing a return to England as the Blues have agreed to pay €65 million to add him to their squad after the Club World Cup.

Gittens has only gone from strength to strength since joining Dortmund back in 2020 from Manchester City. He went up the ranks at some pace and has been a part of their first team since 2022.

Chelsea’s initial attempts to sign Gittens

His impressive performances and massive potential have put him on the radar of Chelsea. The Blues consider him an ideal fit for their project, which revolves around signing the best young players in the world.

The London club had Gittens on their books for around six months back in 2012, and they are now set to re-sign him. Enzo Maresca’s team were keen on signing him prior to the Club World Cup. They had already agreed on personal terms with the player, but couldn’t strike a deal in time with Dortmund.

Chelsea finally agree deal to sign Gittens

Gittens is currently a part of the German club’s squad for the global tournament, but he looks set to return to England. After long-drawn negotiations with Dortmund, the Blues finally have an agreement in place.

They are set to fork out a massive €65 million to bring the 20-year-old winger back to England. With Jadon Sancho returning to his parent club and Mykhailo Mudryk unlikely to be available anytime soon, Gittens could prove to be just the perfect signing for the London club.

He has already proved himself at the highest level with Dortmund and can certainly push for a prominent role in Chelsea’s team under Maresca. While the Blues have reached an agreement on the final fee, there are still some minor details to be resolved.

Once all formalities are completed, an official announcement is expected. It will most likely be made after both clubs’ fate at the Club World Cup are determined.
