Arsenal could offer €40 million for Marc Casado

Arsenal could consider making a €40 million offer to test Barcelona’s resolve on exciting midfielder Marc Casado this summer.

According to Ficahjes, Arsenal could ponder making a €40 million offer for Barcelona midfield talent Marc Casado. The intense competition for places in Hansi Flick’s midfield as well as Mikel Arteta’s interest in the La Masia talent could play a significant role in his future as it remains to be seen whether the Catalans are open to a sale.

Arsenal are not short of midfielders despite the departure of Jorginho and the possible exit of Thomas Partey at the end of his contract. The Gunners have already acted swiftly to secure the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, who will more likely have a starting role under Mikel Arteta next season.

The Gunners also addressed their lack of progress in extending Partey’s contract as they have already agreed on a deal for Christian Norgaard with Brentford. The experienced Dane will probably add to the midfield depth and could be seen as a replacement for the Ghanaian. Moreover, the north Londoners are looking to add an attacking midfield with recent links to Eberechi Eze.

Overall, Arsenal have a strong enough midfield setup with those new arrivals, as Mikel Merino, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice are all key options. There’s the slight possibility of following through with a market opportunity in the form of Marc Casado, as the Gunners could revive their interest in the Barcelona midfielder.

The report states that Arteta wants the 21-year-old Barcelona breakout prospect in his side for next season, with Arsenal now pondering a €40 million offer to test the Catalans’ resolve. The midfielder could consider his future if Hansi Flick prefers Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal as his preferred options, as Barcelona have abundant options such as Gavi and Pedri to play around.

Could Barcelona sell Marc Casado?

Aston Villa are another team keen on Casado, while Chelsea had also seen links earlier. Barcelona are eager to balance their finances, meaning, they would need to clear out a few players and their wages to make space for new ones, as some key signings are expected to arrive such as Joan Garcia and Nico Williams.

While Arsenal do not particularly need a new midfielder, Arteta might ponder making that €40 million offer to sign Casado as a market opportunity. The midfielder has shown plenty of good performances over the season, although an injury in March disrupted what was a fantastic campaign until then under Flick. It remains to be seen whether he stays put or considers a move away from Barcelona, as Arsenal might lie in wait.
