Official | Augsburg appoint former Chelsea and PSG analyst Benni Weber as sporting director

Augsburg today confirmed that they have appointed Benni Weber as their new sporting director. The 42-year-old joins the Bundesliga club from Paderborn, having previously worked as an assistant coach and video analyst at Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Mainz under Thomas Tuchel.

“We are delighted to have recruited Benni as our new sporting director,” read a statement on the club’s website. “He has done remarkable work in Paderborn over the past few years. In addition to his sporting success, he has also succeeded in signing and developing talented young players – five German junior internationals speak volumes. Furthermore, he has achieves success at the highest level and has a wealth of experience from his previous positions, making him a perfect fit for our direction and our requirements.”

Following his appointment, Weber added: “I’m very much looking forward to my role as sporting director at FCA and thank those responsible for their trust. The club’s philosophy and the people involved quickly won me over. I want to do my part, together with a strong team, to further develop FCA in the coming years.”
