Newcastle United line up Antonio Nusa, Xavi Simons moves
Newcastle United will reportedly look to sign Antonio Nusa and Xavi Simons from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Give Me Sport, Antonio Nusa and Xavi Simons are the subjects of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are keen on bolstering their offensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing versatile attackers. So, the highly-rated RB Leipzig attacking duo has emerged on the Tyneside club’s radar.
The Bundesliga giants will demand a combined £100 million to part ways with Nusa and Simons in the summer transfer window. While the latter has a price tag of £60 million, RB Leipzig will ask for around £40 million to part ways with Nusa. However, Newcastle United will likely face stiff competition for Simons’s signature.
The rise of Xavi Simons and Antonio Nusa
Xavi Simons has established himself as one of the best young playmakers in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain. Die Roten Bullen finally completed a permanent move for the Dutchman earlier this year, and he enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign. The Netherlands international contributed to 19 goals in 33 outings by finding the back of the net 11 times and providing eight assists.
As for Antonio Nusa, the 20-year-old joined RB Leipzig from Club Brugge last summer. While the Norwegian international was not an undisputed first-choice starter for the Bundesliga club, he had a decent tally of five goals and eight assists in 2,308 minutes of game time across 40 outings in all competitions. Meanwhile, Nusa and Simons have piqued the attention of several clubs, including Newcastle United, with their progress.
Will the RB Leipzig duo reunite at Newcastle United?
Newcastle United’s interest in Xavi Simons and Antonio Nusa is understandable. The Magpies are combing the market for versatile attackers coming into the summer transfer window after choosing not to replace Miguel Almiron when the Paraguayan international rejoined Atlanta United earlier this year.
So, several candidates, including Anthony Elanga, have emerged on Newcastle United’s radar. However, they have failed with a bid to sign the Swedish international, with the situation forcing them to identify alternatives to the Nottingham Forest winger. Nusa and Simons are viable options for the Tyneside outfit.
The Magpies also have other players on their wishlist, including Malick Fofana. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig will demand a combined £100 million to part ways with the duo. While Simons has a price tag of £60 million, the Bundesliga giants want around £40 million to part ways with Nusa. So, it will be interesting to see if Newcastle United will meet RB Leipzig’s demands.
