Fulham want to sign Romulo from Goztepe
Fulham will reportedly look to sign 23-year-old Brazilian striker Romulo from Turkish club Goztepe in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by David Ornstein of The Athletic, Romulo is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 23-year-old Goztepe centre-forward has emerged as a target for the West London club.
The Cottagers have already made their first move to sign the South American attacker in the summer transfer window, submitting a bid worth €16 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause. However, Goztepe rejected the proposal, demanding over €20 million to part ways with him. Meanwhile, the player is also a target for Fenerbahce, Feyenoord, RB Leipzig, and Zenit St Petersburg.
Who is Romulo?
Romulo has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Turkish Super Lig since joining Goztepe from Athletico Paranaense. A native of Marialva, the 23-year-old spent his formative years in Brazil and graduated from the youth division at Athletic-PR. Meanwhile, Goztepe initially signed him on loan in February 2024 before completing a permanent move 12 months later.
The Brazilian striker enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign, contributing to 27 goals in 33 outings in all competitions by finding the back of the net 17 times and providing ten assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Fulham will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Fulham’s interest in Romulo is somewhat perplexing yet understandable. While the Cottagers are keen on keeping hold of Rodrigo Muniz amid his links with Leeds United, they will part ways with Carlos Vinicius as a free agent. In addition, Raul Jimenez is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career.
So, several candidates, including Ricardo Pepi, have emerged on Fulham’s radar, with Romulo also a viable target for the West London club. The Cottagers have already launched the offensive to sign the Goztepe striker, offering €16 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause. However, the opening bid has failed, with the Turkish club demanding over €20 million to part ways with him.
In addition, Fulham will face stiff competition from Fenerbahce, Feyenoord, RB Leipzig, and Zenit St Petersburg for his signature. So, the West London outfit must move decisively to beat the other suitors to the 23-year-old Brazilian striker.
