Fulham enter Harvey Elliott chase

Fulham have reportedly thrown their name into the hat to sign 22-year-old Liverpool playmaker Harvey Elliott this summer.

Fulham have reportedly entered the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott, with Football Insider confirming that the London side are preparing a bold move to bring their former academy star back to Craven Cottage this summer.

Elliott, who made his professional debut for Fulham at just 15, was snapped up by Liverpool in 2019 as one of the most highly rated teenagers in English football. Since then, he has steadily progressed through the ranks at Anfield while becoming a valuable squad player under both Jurgen Klopp and, more recently, new manager Arne Slot.

However, Elliott’s role has become less clear in recent months. The 22-year-old started just two Premier League matches during Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, with most of his minutes coming from the bench. While he remained a trusted figure in European and cup matches, the reduced league involvement has led to growing speculation about his future.

Liverpool have no desire to lose the young playmaker on the cheap. With two years remaining on his current contract, the Reds are in a strong position to negotiate any potential exit on their terms. But Elliott himself is believed to be open to a move if it guarantees more consistent game time, something Fulham may be able to offer.

Marco Silva’s side are in search of fresh attacking options following the departure of veteran winger Willian, and a reunion with Elliott, who still commands admiration at his boyhood club, could provide the creative spark Fulham need as they aim to improve on last season’s mid-table finish.

Elliott’s form on the international stage has only heightened interest in his services. Just last week, he delivered a standout performance for England U21s, scoring both goals in a 2-1 semi-final victory over the Netherlands to book a spot in the U21 Euro 2025 final. That display reminded everyone of his natural flair, composure, and goal-scoring instincts, traits that Liverpool may not want to lose so easily.

Wolves are also in the running for Elliott, but Fulham’s emotional and developmental ties to the player could give them a unique advantage in any negotiations. Letting Harvey Elliott go could be a premature decision by Liverpool.

At just 22, he still has massive untapped potential and has shown glimpses of brilliance when given the platform. While a loan move might suit all parties, a permanent transfer, especially to a mid-table rival, could come back to haunt the Reds. If Elliott is patient, under Arne Slot’s system, he could yet become a long-term asset in Liverpool’s evolving midfield.

Regardless of having signed Florian Writz, the Reds could still do with retaining an option off the bench like Elliott. After all, strength in depth is needed to go all out on all fronts next season.
