Xabi Alonso wants to keep Rodrygo Goes amid exit links
Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United may fail to sign 24-year-old Brazilian international Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Caught Offside, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are keen on signing Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. Los Blancos will demand around €110 million to part ways with the Brazilian international, although a deal may materialise for around €80-85 million. However, Xabi Alonso wants to keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Rodrygo Goes and his Real Madrid move
Rodrygo Goes has come leaps and bounds since joining Real Madrid from Santos in July 2019. While the highly-rated attacker has not been as consistent as he would have liked, he has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his spell with the Spanish giants.
The 24-year-old has not enjoyed an exceptional 2024/25 campaign with Real Madrid, managing only 14 goals and 11 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions. However, the player’s stock in the market is high, with several high-profile clubs keen on signing him. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
A man in demand
The Brazilian international has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. The Real Madrid attacker is a viable target for the North London outfit amid growing over-dependence on Bukayo Saka in the final third. Recent reports have claimed that the Gunners are ready to offer a bumper contract to convince him to move to the Emirates. With Arsenal getting busy in the market, signing the player will not be surprising.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Rodrygo Goes is understandable. The Blues want to bolster their offensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a wide attacker after choosing not to complete a permanent move for Jadon Sancho. In addition, Mykhailo Mudryk is indefinitely unavailable after failing a doping test. So, the Real Madrid attacker is a viable target for Chelsea.
As for Manchester United, the Red Devils have been busy in the market reinforcing their offensive unit. Matheus Cunha has arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Bryan Mbeumo will likely join from Brentford. However, the Real Madrid attacker’s versatility makes him an appealing target for Manchester United.
While Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are pursuing Rodrygo’s signature, Xabi Alonso wants to keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will demand €110 million to part ways with the 24-year-old Brazilian international, although the price can drop to €80-85 million. However, it will be interesting to see if Alonso can keep the player at the Bernabeu.
