Tottenham front-runners to sign Georges Mikautadze

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Georgian international Georges Mikautadze from Lyon in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Georges Mikautadze is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Lyon centre-forward has emerged as a target for the North London outfit.

Several other Premier League clubs are keen on signing the Lyon native in the summer transfer window. However, the North London giants are in the pole position to sign Mikautadze from the beleaguered French giants after their relegation from Ligue 1 to Ligue 2.

Georges Mikautadze and his career

Georges Mikautadze has established himself as one of the most productive strikers in Ligue 1 since joining Lyon from FC Metz last summer. The Georgian international striker spent his formative years in France, passing through the academies at FC Gerland, Lyon, and AS Saint-Priest before graduating from the youth division at FC Metz.

The 28-year-old rose in prominence during his spell with FC Metz and the loan stint with Ajax before making his mark in the 2024/25 season. Mikautadze contributed to 28 goals in 47 outings across all competitions by finding the back of the net 17 times and providing 11 assists. However, Lyon’s relegation to Ligue 2 has left several players’ futures uncertain. The situation has alerted several high-profile clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.

London calling?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Georges Mikautadze may be surprising, but it makes sense. The Lilywhites are combing the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window after Dominic Solanke struggled to stamp his authority in his debut season with the North London outfit. So, several candidates, including Rodrigo Muniz, have emerged on Tottenham’s radar.

However, Mikautadze is also a viable target, considering he can share game time with Solanke and step up if the English striker continues to falter. The latest report has claimed that the North London giants are in the pole position to sign the Lyon striker from the beleaguered French club.

However, the 28-year-old Georgian international is also a target for several other Premier League clubs. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Mikautadze as we approach the final two months of the summer transfer window.
