Crystal Palace in transfer tussle to sign Angelino from AS Roma
Crystal Palace will reportedly look to bring 28-year-old Spanish full-back Angelino back to the Premier League from Serie A club AS Roma in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Italian outlet Il Messaggero, Angelino is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are eager to reinforce their defensive unit by signing a left-back in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Tyrick Mitchell’s long-term future. So, the 28-year-old AS Roma wide player has emerged as a target for the South London club.
The Spaniard was closing in on joining Al-Hilal before the deal failed to see the light of day. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace will face stiff competition from Bournemouth for the player’s signature, with the Cherries keen on signing a left-back before they sell Milos Kerkez to Liverpool.
Angelino and his Serie A adventure
Angelino has resurrected his stuttering career since joining AS Roma from RB Leipzig. The Serie A giants initially sealed a loan deal for the 28-year-old wide player in January 2024 before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window. The player was an ever-present star in the starting lineup in the 2024/25 season.
The Spanish full-back turned out over 50 times across all competitions while amassing over 4,000 minutes of game time and chipping in with four goals and six assists. However, the player faces an uncertain future at Stadio Olimpico in the summer transfer window, and a return to the Premier League may be on the cards, with Crystal Palace vying for his signature.
Premier League return on the horizon?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Angelino is understandable. The Eagles have been scouring the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Tyrick Mitchell’s long-term future. The English wide player has entered the final few days of his contract, and he may leave Crystal Palace as a free agent.
So, several candidates, including Reinildo Mandava, are on Crystal Palace’s radar, with the AS Roma full-back also a viable target. They have submitted an enquiry for the Spaniard, although an offer has not come yet. However, the Eagles are unwilling to pay more than €12 million to sign the 28-year-old wide player from AS Roma in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, the AS Roma left-back is also a target for Bournemouth, while his move to Al-Hilal has collapsed. So, a return to the Premier League may be on the cards for Angelino after his underwhelming spell with Manchester City.
