West Ham United uninterested in Juventus swap deal involving Daniele Rugani and Nayef Aguerd

West Ham United will not accept a swap deal involving involving Nayef Aguerd and 30-year-old Juventus outcast Daniele Rugani in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Juventus will look to sign Nayef Aguerd in a swap deal involving Daniele Rugani in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants are eager to bolster their defensive unit by signing a centre-back. So, the West Ham United outcast has emerged as a target for the Bianconeri.

However, the Hammers do not want to sign Rugani in a swap deal involving Aguerd in the summer transfer window. Instead, West Ham United will prioritise “a cash exit” for the 29-year-old Moroccan international after he returns from a loan spell with Real Sociedad.

Daniele Rugani and his struggles

Daniele Rugani has endured one of the most underwhelming careers in Italy since breaking into the first-team squad at Juventus. A native of Lucca, the 30-year-old spent most of his formative years with Empoli FC before graduating from the youth division at Juventus. However, while the experienced defender showed flashes of brilliance, he could never land on his feet at the Allianz Stadium.

The Italian defender has also embarked on three loan spells away from Juventus and spent the 2024/25 season with Ajax. Meanwhile, Rugani has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for the Bianconeri while chipping in with 11 goals and one assist. However, his time at Juventus may end in the summer transfer window, with the Serie A giants keen on signing him in a swap deal involving Nayef Aguerd.

What next?

Recent reports have claimed that Juventus and West Ham United have been in contact over a possible swap deal involving Daniele Rugani and Nayef Aguerd. The Serie A giants are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a centre-back as they wait for Gleison Bremer to return from a long-term knee injury.

So, Aguerd emerged as a viable target for Juventus, with the Bianconeri keen on reducing West Ham’s asking price by executing a swap deal. However, the Hammers do not want to accept that arrangement, with the East London club’s decision-makers “prioritising a cash exit” for the 29-year-old Moroccan international in the summer transfer window.

While Aguerd has no future at West Ham United, he will only leave on a standalone deal. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds of Rugani and if Aguerd joins Juventus in the summer transfer window.
