Fenerbahce make progress in deal to sign Jadon Sancho
Turkish giants Fenerbahce reportedly seem to be closing in on securing the signature of Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho.
According to Murat Zorlu via Fener Ajans, Fenerbahce are keen on acquiring the services of Jadon Sancho. The Turkish Super Lig giants have made significant progress in their pursuit of the Manchester United flop.
While speaking about Fenerbahce’s interest in the English international, the Turkish journalist said, “From what I know, there has been significant progress with Jadon Sancho. Right now, he’s the name being concretely pursued.”
Sancho made a name for himself while playing for Borussia Dortmund. His sensational rise earned him a big-money move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021. While he had a decent start to life in Manchester, the 25-year-old failed to live up to expectations.
After falling out with Erik ten Hag, the Englishman returned to Borussia Dortmund for a short loan spell during the second half of the 2023/24 season. Sancho was then loaned out to Chelsea for the entirety of the 2024/25 campaign.
While Sancho was not a regular starter for the Blues, he certainly made the most out of the chances he had. In his 41 appearances across competitions, he ended up contributing towards 15 goals.
Initially, reports suggested that the West London club would be more than happy to have him in their squad for the long haul and that the loan deal did include an obligation to buy. However, they eventually decided to send him back and are ready to pay a fine to make it happen.
Sancho to play in the Super Lig next season?
While Jadon Sancho still has 12 months left on his deal at Old Trafford, he has no future at the club. They are ready to sanction his departure as long as they receive a decent financial offer.
Quite a few clubs seem to be keen on his signature, but nothing concrete has happened so far. However, it seems Fenerbahce have emerged as a potential destination for the 25-year-old. The Turkish giants want more firepower in the final third and feel the English versatile forward could help their cause.
Fenerbahce are very serious about their pursuit of Sancho, and they have already made significant progress. However, it remains unclear whether the former Borussia Dortmund winger would be willing to move to Turkiye amidst interest from other top clubs.
