Leeds United in transfer tussle to sign Hugo Bueno
Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old Spanish full-back prospect Hugo Bueno from fellow Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
According to a report by MARCA, as relayed by Sport Witness, Hugo Bueno is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a left-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers whizkid has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.
Who is Hugo Bueno?
Hugo Bueno has seen his stock soar after a successful loan stint with Feyenoord. The Eredivisie continues to elevate Premier League prospects, with Jarrad Branthwaite rising in prominence after representing PSV Eindhoven a few years ago. As for Bueno, the Spaniard is a native of Vigo and spent most of his formative years in his homeland before moving to England in 2019.
The 22-year-old graduated from the youth division at Wolverhampton Wanderers before making his first-team bow in the early days of the 2022/23 season. Since then, Bueno has made considerable progress, although he has yet to become an undisputed first-choice starter for the Black Country outfit.
The Spanish under-21 international spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Feyenoord, turning out 30 times while chipping in with four assists. Meanwhile, Bueno’s progress at the Eredivisie club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Leeds United will be among his prospective suitors heading into the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Leeds United’s interest in Hugo Bueno makes sense. The Whites are scouring the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window, as the in-demand Junior Firpo is leaving as a free agent. So, several candidates, including Alex Moreno, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Bueno also a viable target.
However, it is unclear if Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to part ways with the 22-year-old Spaniard in the summer transfer window. The Black Country outfit sold Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City earlier this month, and Bueno will likely replace the Algerian international.
So, Leeds United may need an irresistible bid to convince Wolverhampton Wanderers to part ways with the Spanish youth international in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Bueno.
