Manchester United preparing offer for Hugo Ekitike

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are gearing up to make an offer for the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

Manchester United are keen on reinforcing their attack ahead of next season, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike is one of the names on their wishlist. According to a report from Fichajes, the Red Devils are preparing an offer for the French striker as they look to bring him to Old Trafford ahead of next season.

While things didn’t work out for Ekitike at PSG, he has got his career back on track since joining Frankfurt at the start of 2024. It was an initial loan move, which was made permanent last summer.

In his first full season with the German club, the 22-year-old striker was involved in a total of 48 matches. He ended up contributing towards 32 goals (22 goals, 12 assists). His performances didn’t go unnoticed as multiple top clubs from across Europe are now keen on signing him.

Frankfurt are reluctant to sell, and with his contract running until 2029, they have set a high asking price of around €100 million. While Chelsea and Liverpool, both in the market for new forwards, were initially interested in his signature, they have cooled their pursuit after learning of the hefty valuation.

However, the price tag hasn’t deterred United, who consider him a priority target to bolster their attack. They have already started working towards a potential transfer. They are looking to figure out a structure that could help them sign the 22-year-old amidst their financial difficulties.

The Red Devils are set to prioritise a player plus cash deal. While they are ready to splash the cash, they are ready to offer one of their forwards to lower the asking price. They are willing to let go of one of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, but it remains to be seen whether they would be interested in joining Frankfurt.

Ruben Amorim is working hard to revamp his squad, and he seems to be pushing for a new look attack. A world-class forward is a top priority for him, and the English club are looking to land Ekitike as he could help them in the short as well as the long run. They are expected to make progress with a concrete offer in the near future.
