Nottingham Forest confident of keeping Callum Hudson-Odoi amid Manchester United links

Nottingham Forest are confident about keeping hold of Callum Hudson-Odoi amid Manchester Unnited’s interest in the 24-year-old attacker.

According to United Focus, Nottingham Forest are confident of retaining Callum Hudson-Odoi as the 24-year-old attacker enters the final year of his deal. The big links have come in the form of Manchester United, as they are rather surprisingly interested in the forward who may not end up suiting Ruben Amorim’s system.

Manchester United have entered the summer window with the clear intention of strengthening their attacking setup. Matheus Cunha has already arrived from Wolves, while they are keen to finalise a move for Bryan Mbeumo as well as a new striker, whose identity remains in the dark at the moment.

Ruben Amorim wants his wide players to bring in the goals, although both Cunha and Mbeumo are expected to feature in the double-ten roles going forward. Hence, there are some surprising glances towards reports linking Manchester United to Callum Hudson-Odoi.

For starters, Hudson-Odoi is not a prolific goalscorer, although he has been growing in stature since his move to Nottingham Forest back in the summer of 2023. He only signed a three-year deal, meaning he will have a year left heading into the new season.

Manchester United could be dealt a blow in their pursuit of the 24-year-old attacker, as Nottingham Forest plans on keeping him. The club are extremely confident that an agreement over a new big-money contract will be reached, something that is in the pipeline at the moment. Given the club ensured they tied down several of their key stars throughout the previous season, Hudson-Odoi could be next in line.

Where does Callum Hudson Odoi fit in at Manchester United?

Even if Hudson-Odoi ends up staying at Nottingham Forest, it’s intriguing where the 24-year-old attacker fits in at Manchester United should they end up making their move. The fact that Amorim likes to play with double-tens and wing-backs, it’s the very reason why they are open to getting rid of Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentine is keen to remain in the Premier League, as Hudson-Odoi could be his replacement if the calculations match

As for a winger signing, Amorim is very much open to signing a wing-back, as Manchester United are keeping tabs on Braga teenager Roger Fernandes. Hence, the idea of Hudson-Odoi does not calibrate with what Amorim would like in his attacking setup, as they will probably end up signing Mbeumo and a striker before closing shop on attacking signings.
