Al-Hilal, other Saudi clubs keen on signing Joelinton
Al-Hilal and other Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly keen on signing 28-year-old Brazilian international Joelinton from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Joelinton is the subject of interest from Al-Hilal. The Saudi Pro League giants are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. So, the Newcastle United midfielder has emerged as a target for Al-Za’eem, with other Saudi clubs also keen on securing his services.
Joelinton and his transformation
Joelinton has evolved into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Newcastle United. The Magpies signed the Alianca native as an option to reinforce their offensive unit when he arrived from TSG Hoffenheim in July 2019. However, he could not make his mark as a striker in his debut season with the Tyneside outfit.
The 28-year-old became a top-class player once he started playing as a midfielder, with Eddie Howe bringing the best out of him. He even won the Player of the Year award for Newcastle United after an excellent 2021/22 campaign.
The Brazilian international has turned out over 200 times thus far for Newcastle United while chipping in with 29 goals and 21 assists. Meanwhile, the former TSG Hoffenheim attacker’s progress at Newcastle United has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. However, a move to the Saudi Pro League may be on the cards for him.
What next?
Graeme Bailey has suggested that Joelinton is a target for Al-Hilal heading into the summer transfer window. The Saudi Pro League giants are keen on reinforcing their midfield unit by signing a versatile midfielder. They attempted to sign N’Golo Kante from Al-Ittihad earlier this month before the deal failed to see the light of day.
Meanwhile, Premier League midfielders are also on Al-Hilal’s wishlist, with recent reports linking them with Bernardo Silva. Al-Hilal also unsuccessfully attempted to sign Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United before the Portuguese international chose to remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer transfer window.
As for Joelinton, the Newcastle United midfielder is also a target for other Saudi Pro League clubs. However, it is unclear if the Magpies are ready to part ways with the 28-year-old Brazilian international in the summer transfer window.
