Everton and Fulham have reportedly been keen on signing 35-year-old English international Kyle Walker from fellow Premier League club Manchester City this summer.

According to a report by The Sun, Kyle Walker is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the summer transfer window as they prepare to part ways with Kenny Tete. So, the 35-year-old Manchester City wide player has emerged as a target, with the West London club submitting an enquiry for him.

However, Fulham will lose the battle for Walker’s signature, with Everton on the cusp of securing his services. The Englishman has agreed to join the Toffees in a cut-price deal in the summer transfer window, and he will replace his compatriot Ashley Young at the Merseyside club.

Kyle Walker and an illustrious career

Kyle Walker has been one of the best full-backs in the Premier League for over a decade. The 35-year-old has enjoyed excellent stints with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, with the latter signing him for a big-money deal worth £50 million in July 2017. However, he has no future at the Etihad after completing a short loan stint with AC Milan.

The English international turned out 16 times for AC Milan, amassing over 1,000 minutes of game time. However, the Rossoneri will not complete a permanent move in the summer transfer window as they aim to rebuild the first-team squad. Meanwhile, the Manchester City veteran has no shortage of suitors, with Everton and Fulham vying for his signature.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Fulham’s interest in Kyle Walker is understandable. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad in the summer transfer window by signing a right-back. So, Walker has emerged as a viable target for Fulham, with his vast experience and leadership ability making him an appealing option for the West London club.

However, Fulham will lose the battle for Walker’s signature, as the Englishman has agreed to join Everton in the summer transfer window. The Toffees are parting ways with Ashley Young this summer. In addition, Seamus Coleman is in the twilight of his career. So, Everton needed a new right-back, and the Manchester City veteran will be a short-term solution on the right flank.
