Mircea Rednic returns to Standard Liege for second spell in charge

Standard Liege have announced that Mircea Rednic will be the sides new head coach for the 2025/2026 season. The Romanian head coach returns to the club after managing them during the 2012/2013 Pro League season. Since then he has had plenty of other jobs, including other jobs in Belgium, such as Gent in 2013/2014 and then between 2016 and 2018 with the now defunct Royal Excel Mouscron.

Despite being linked with a number of other candidates, Standard have ended up with Rednic. During his first spell at the side they finished fourth and qualified for the Europa League. Like Anderlecht, Standard have opted to bring a former head coach in for the current season. Rednic, alongside managing Standard over a decade ago, also played for the side during the 1990s He was part of the sides that won the Belgian Cup in 1993 and came second in the league in both 1993 and 1995.
