Son Heung-min receives €12 million-a-year contract from Tottenham
Jose Mourinho wants a reunion with Tottenham captain Son Heung-min, with Fenerbache presenting the South Korean with a €12 million-a-year contract.
According to Fichajes, Fenerbahce are ready to bring Son Heung-min to Istanbul and have presented an important €12 million-a-year contract to the South Korean. Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a reunion with his former Spurs charge, and the North Londoners could consider an exit.
Son Heung-min would have been relieved at the prospect of lifting a major trophy after ten years at the club, as Spurs ended their well-publicised trophy drought by winning the Europa League. The veteran attacker has not had the best of seasons for the North Londoners, yet he is seen as a legend of sorts in the same vein as former striker Harry Kane.
Tottenham triggered a contract extension in the South Korean’s deal back in January, and they might have done it to get some value for the ten-year veteran in the summer. There have been some rumours of interest from clubs, although reports have already rubbished links to Bayern Munich recently.
Despite the one-year extension, Tottenham have been concerned about Son Heung-min’s faltering form, and they might be open to letting the experienced long-serving star depart. Any move will depend on how much Daniel Levy ends up asking, as knowing the Spurs supremo, there is every chance that he squeezes the last bit of value from the ten-year Tottenham veteran.
A recent report stated that Tottenham could potentially sell Son even if new manager Thomas Frank wants to keep him. Those are big indications about the club’s willingness to usher in the new era, which could see the South Korean as well as other long-serving stars leave to pave the way for a new project.
Fenerbahce makes sensational Son Heung-min offer
Fenerbahce are keeping close tabs on Son’s situation as the Istanbul giants are eager to lure the South Korean. Manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on a reunion with the ten-year Tottenham veteran, as Fenerbahce want to bring in players that allow them to challenge rivals Galatasaray next season.
Fenerbahce have reportedly tabled a €12 million-a-year contract to tempt Son Heung-min into making a decision. At this stage of his career, especially having ended Spurs’ trophy drought, the South Korean might end up considering the lucrative proposal from Mourinho’s side. It remains to be seen how long is the proposed contract for, as well as how much Tottenham might demand, although a departure could be on the cards.
