Chelsea seeking loan exit for Ishe Samuels-Smith
Chelsea are looking to send highly-rated teenage defender Ishe Samuels-Smith out on loan, with multiple English clubs keen.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea are actively seeking a loan move for Ishe Samuels-Smith, who has been doing wonders for the youth teams. People at the club rate him very highly and they want to ensure he gets enough first-team action to continue his development as a player.
Samuels-Smith was part of the Everton youth setup back in the day. His impressive performances for their Under-18s put him on Chelsea’s radar, with the Blues constantly on the lookout for young players with massive potential.
They were impressed with his composure, athleticism, and technical ability. As a result, they pushed hard and managed to strike a deal worth around £4 million to bring him in during the summer of 2023.
Samuels-Smith has only gone from strength to strength since joining the London club. The 19-year-old has been putting in consistent performances for their Under-18s, Under-21s as well as the English youth team.
While he prefers playing as a left-back, he is equally effective in a central role. The Blues have high hopes for the teenager and believe he could soon contribute to the senior team.
Chelsea actively looking to loan out Samuels-Smith
Since they can’t guarantee him enough minutes in Enzo Maresca‘s team next season, Chelsea are actively looking to send him out on loan. They want to ensure he gets enough first-team minutes to continue his development as a player and adjust to the demands at the senior level.
Clubs from the Premier League as well as the Championship are interested in his services. Newly promoted Sunderland seek more quality and depth at the back and they want to add Samuels-Smith to their squad. Meanwhile, Middlesbrough and Queens Park Rangers are also closely monitoring the teenager ahead of a potential move.
While there is no shortage of interest in him, the Blues are looking for the perfect destination for the 19-year-old. They want to ensure he gets regular minutes and a coaching setup that can help him develop as a player. Samuels-Smith will be eager to make the most out of the opportunity as he plans to break into the Chelsea first team in the future.
