Arsenal move for Rodrygo Goes has collapsed

Arsenal could miss out on Rodrygo Goes following an increase in his asking price, as the player himself is reportedly happy to stay at Real Madrid.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are likely to miss out on the signing of Rodrygo Goes, as there are plenty of complications in the background. The Gunners viewed the Brazilian as their No.1 attacking target for this window, as his increasing price tag as well as a reported desire to stay at Real Madrid could scupper any chances of an arrival at the Emirates.

Arsenal are yet to make a big impact in the transfer window, despite their rivals managing to get multiple signings through the door. Liverpool have strengthened significantly with Jeremie Frimpong and the potential arrival of Florian Wirtz, while Manchester City have made numerous signings themselves.

The Gunners are focused on strengthening the attacking setup, with a new striker and a left-winger firmly on their wishlist. Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko are seen as their top centre-forward targets, while there are a host of names mentioned for the wide attacking role including Rodrygo Goes.

Arsenal were keen to explore a move for Rodrygo, with certain quarters already declaring the 24-year-old Real Madrid star as their top attacking target for the window. There are obvious complications in the background, including his high wage demand, as well as the possibility of him staying put at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, the report firmly points to an increased price tag, with Real Madrid reportedly demanding £100 million or more owing to the growing interest in the Brazilian. Hence, the price point might be a stretch for the likes of Arsenal, who may bow out of the race. Moreover, Rodrygo could look to re-establish himself in a starring role under new manager Xabi Alonso, which will be seen as a blow by the Gunners.

Arsenal yet to figure out a new left-winger

The market for left-wingers is complicated at this moment, as the Gunners have seen links to the likes of Morgan Rogers and Nico Williams in the recent period, with the latter unlikely to be a target anymore. There were mentions for Kenan Yildiz, with Juventus keen to keep hold of the Turkish international unless a sensational offer arrives on their table.

There are plenty of complications with either one of the left-wingers that Arsenal considers ideal for their system. As for the Rodrygo chase, there might be some life in the saga, as things with the 24-year-old Real Madrid star are expected to become clearer after the Club World Cup, something Arsenal are waiting to find out.
