Newcastle United optimistic of landing Anthony Elanga
Newcastle United are reportedly optimistic about signing 23-year-old Swedish international Anthony Elanga from fellow Premier League club Nottingham Forest.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Anthony Elanga is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are keen on bolstering their offensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a productive wide attacker. So, the Nottingham Forest winger has emerged as a target for the Tyneside outfit.
The report has claimed that the Magpies are confident about signing the resurgent Swede from Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the high-flying Premier League club will demand around £65 million to part ways with Elanga amid his links with Newcastle United.
Anthony Elanga and his career-changing move
Anthony Elanga has come leaps and bounds since joining Nottingham Forest from Manchester United in July 2023. The 23-year-old has established himself as a pivotal figure for the Tricky Trees in the last two seasons and played his part as Nottingham Forest clinched a top-half finish in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.
The Swedish international contributed to 18 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions (17 in the Premier League) by finding the back of the net six times and providing 12 assists. Meanwhile, Elanga’s progress at Nottingham Forest has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Newcastle United wanted to sign Anthony Elanga last summer before the deal failed to see the light of day. The continued interest makes sense, considering his exploits for Nottingham Forest in his two seasons with the Tricky Trees. In addition, Newcastle United did not replace Miguel Almiron after selling him to Atlanta United earlier this year.
So, the Magpies must sign a new right-sided attacker, with Elanga emerging as a viable target. However, the Nottingham Forest winger will not come cheap, with the high-flying Premier League club demanding around £65 million to part ways with the 23-year-old Swede in the summer transfer window.
That does not deter Newcastle United, with the Tyneside outfit optimistic about securing Elanga’s services in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if Newcastle United can finally sign the Swedish international this year.
