Mimeirhel Benita leaves Feyenoord for Heracles Almelo, making loan deal permanent
Mimeirhel Benita has swapped Feyenoord for Heracles Almelo. The 21-year-old right-back has chosen the next stage of his career, and joins the club he was on loan at last season.
“Born and raised in Spijkenisse, Benita was part of the Feyenoord family for almost a decade”, the club website reads. “In 2016, he was brought to Feyenoord Academy as a talented youth player, after which he made his official debut for the first team in August 2021.”
Speaking on his departure, the young defender said: “I have always felt very much at home at Feyenoord, but I also feel that it is time for a new adventure. I am proud that I have made it to Feyenoord’s first team, and that I have been able to make a modest contribution to the Conference League campaign and the championship.
“These are memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I wish my teammates, the staff, the supporters and everyone else at the club all the best and look forward to my return to De Kuip with Heracles.”
In total, Benita played six matches for ‘Feyenoord 1’, and was part of the selection that won the Eredivisie title under Arne Slot in 2022-23. The past two Eredivisie seasons, Benita was loaned to Excelsior and Heracles Almelo, who now make his stay permanent.
