Arsenal set deadline to seal Benjamin Sesko deal

Arsenal have reportedly set a deadline for the Benjamin Sesko deal in a bid to get RB Leipzig to agree on the transfer at the earliest.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal have reportedly set a June 15 deadline for RB Leipzig to give them an answer on Benjamin Sesko. The striker is seemingly open to joining the Gunners, who could potentially move on to another target if the Bundesliga side cannot agree to their terms.

Arsenal are keen to bring their top striker target at the earliest, given Mikel Arteta would like the player well in time for pre-season. While the transfer window only opened a few days prior, there is no real urgency to get players in at the current moment, although it is in the club’s best interest to get deals done fast.

Hence, Arsenal are pushing hard to get a move for Benjamin Sesko, which is imperative for sporting director Andrea Berta. The Italian transfer guru has been operating differently from his predecessor Edu Gaspar, and the Gunners seemingly have held talks for multiple targets, including Viktor Gyokeres.

As of now, Sesko seems like their top target, with the Slovenian striker close to agreeing on personal terms with the Gunners. All that remains is the rubber stamp on an agreement with the player and then finalising the fee with RB Leipzig, with the Bundesliga outfit holding out for his entire €80 million release clause.

Arsenal want to pay less than that figure, which has led to protracted negotiations, as talks have continued between all parties to get the green light. However, the Gunners could decide on giving Leipzig an ultimatum over the move, as they could potentially move on to other targets.

Arsenal set Benjamin Sesko deadline

With an agreement on personal terms not seen as a problem, Arsenal do fear that negotiations with Leipzig could drag on until late if they do not take action in the current situation. Hence, the Gunners have reportedly given the German side a deadline of June 15 to give a definitive answer on the €80 million-rated striker.

Reports have talked about Saudi interest in the striker, although the €80 million-rated star wants to stay in Europe. Hence, as things stand, Arsenal are the only top European club in the mix for the striker, with the Gunners hoping to find an agreement with Leipzig for Sesko.
