Joao Pedro open to Newcastle United move
Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Joao Pedro is reportedly open to joining fellow Premier League club Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Joao Pedro is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a versatile attacker. So, the Brighton & Hove Albion forward has emerged as a target for the Tyneside outfit.
Meanwhile, the South American attacker is also a target for Chelsea, with the West London club keen on signing a versatile Brighton & Hove Albion forward in the summer transfer window. However, Pedro is open to joining Newcastle United amid uncertainties surrounding his long-term future at the Amex Stadium.
Joao Pedro and his rise in the Premier League
Joao Pedro has established himself as one of the most promising young attackers in the Premier League since joining Brighton & Hove Albion from Watford in July 2023. The 23-year-old has been a productive attacker for the Seagulls in the last two years. However, fitness issues and proneness to inconsistency have hurt the player during his spell at the Amex Stadium.
The Brazilian international contributed to 17 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions in the 2024/25 season, finding the back of the net ten times and providing seven assists. Meanwhile, Pedro’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle United.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Chelsea’s interest in Joao Pedro is understandable. The Blues are combing the market for a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window after parting ways with Jadon Sancho. In addition, Christopher Nkunku faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. So, the Brighton & Hove Albion star has emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.
As for Newcastle United, the Tyneside outfit parted ways with Miguel Almiron earlier this year but did not replace him in January. So, several candidates have emerged on Newcastle United’s radar, with Pedro also an option worth considering. The Brighton ace has boosted the Magpies’ prospects, as he is open to moving to St. James’ Park in the summer transfer window.
Apart from Pedro, Anthony Elanga is also a target for Newcastle United. It will be interesting to see if the Magpies beat Chelsea to the 23-year-old Brazilian attacker’s signature in the summer transfer window.
