Marseille’s Azzedine Ounahi agrees to Brighton move
Olympique de Marseille’s Azzedine Ounahi (25) has agreed to a move to Brighton and Hove Albion, Foot Mercato understands.
Ounahi spent last season at Panathinaikos, where he got his career back on track, making 37 appearances and being elected fans’ player of the season. Previously, he had struggled at OM, having made the move after his breakout tournament for Morocco at the 2022 FIFA Wolrld Cup.
However, Panathinaikos are unable to afford the €11.5m purchase option included in the loan deal. He will therefore return to Marseille, where he does not have a future under Roberto De Zerbi. Brighton are long-term admirers of the midfielder and are now making a fresh attempt to sign him.
As per Foot Mercato, Ouanhi has already said yes to a move to Brighton, having been convinced during talks with the club’s hierarchy in recent hours. There is a verbal agreement on a four-year contract. An agreement must now also be found with Marseille.
