Leicester City line up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain swoop

Leicester City are lining up a move to bring Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back to England with Besiktas reportedly open to selling the midfielder.

According to Fichajes, Leicester City are eyeing a move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer as they aim to bring the player back to England. The 31-year-old ex-Arsenal, Liverpool attacker has been in decent form for the Turkish giants since joining them in 2023, but manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is seemingly open to his departure.

The story of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain paints a different picture from what he was pencilled to be when he joined Arsenal from Southampton. He was a bright young star under Arsene Wenger, but soon his desire to play in central midfield as well as his injuries began the downfall of his career.

He also got a big move to Liverpool and initially looked promising under Jurgen Klopp, but once again injuries began taking a toll on his performances and appearances. The Englishman’s appearances were always limited at the Merseysiders after the first two seasons there, although he finished his time at the Reds with a Champions League and Premier League title.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Besiktas for free as the Turkish side believed they were getting a valuable player who cost nothing. And their bet on the injury-prone star was in a way right as the 31-year-old ex-Arsenal, Liverpool attacker star was fit for most parts of the first season. He continued that way in his second campaign, although he was barely selected until Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s arrival as their manager.

Solskjaer began using Oxlade-Chamberlain extensively, but the Norwegian is seemingly open to his departure. The 31-year-old ex-Arsenal, Liverpool attacker will now enter the final year of his deal at Besiktas, with the club open to a sale.

Leicester City keen on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Leicester City are the surprise suitor for Oxlade-Chamberlain as they are angling for a quick return to the Premier League. Many of their big stars are expected to seek a departure in the summer following their relegation from the top flight, as the Foxes are scouring the market for quality additions to keep their quality and levels intact.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, with his extensive experience in the Premier League, will prove a good addition provided he can keep his fitness levels to feature regularly. There will be question marks over this transfer, although his likely availability on the cheap would suit Leicester City and bring in a player who can still have plenty of value from the sporting sense.
