Jamie Gittens rebuffs Arsenal, wants Chelsea switch

Jamie Gittens has reportedly snubbed Arsenal in favour of joining Chelsea from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Jamie Gittens is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window to reduce the over-dependence on Bukayo Saka in the final third. So, the Borussia Dortmund winger has emerged as a target for the North London club.

However, the Englishman has snubbed a summer move to Arsenal, as he wants to join Chelsea in the coming weeks. The Blues have submitted a bid worth €35 million to sign Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, but the Bundesliga giants want around €45 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.

Jamie Gittens and his German adventure

Jamie Gittens has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Bundesliga since breaking into the first-team squad at Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old has been with the Black and Yellows since September 2020, but he enjoyed his breakthrough at Signal Iduna Park two years later.

The English youth international was solid in the 2024/25 season, contributing to 17 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 12 times and providing five assists. Meanwhile, Gittens has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs with his progress at Borussia Dortmund. Arsenal and Chelsea are his prospective suitors in the summer transfer window.

London return on the cards?

Arsenal’s interest in Jamie Gittens is understandable. The Gunners have been over-dependent on Bukayo Saka in the final third, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli blowing hot and cold in the 2024/25 season. So, the Borussia Dortmund whizkid emerged as a viable target for Arsenal. However, the youngster has snubbed the North London club.

Instead, the 20-year-old Englishman wants to join Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with personal terms not an issue for either party. However, the West London club must improve the opening offer to sign Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window. While Chelsea offered €35 million to sign the young winger, the Bundesliga giants want around €45 million.

While the Black and Yellows are ready to cash in on the English winger, they will only sanction the sale on their terms. So, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea will cough up €45 million to sign Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.
