Tottenham closing in Thomas Frank capture
Tottenham are closing in on Thomas Frank’s appointment as they are reportedly willing to pay the release clause in his Brentford contract.
According to Football Insider, Thomas Frank is increasingly likely to succeed Ange Postecoglou, as Tottenham are closing in on the 51-year-old Danish boss. Spurs are reportedly willing to pay the release clause in his Brentford contract to secure the experienced manager’s services.
Tottenham did not mask their problems in the league from last season with the Europa League triumph, as they chose to sack Ange Postecoglou. Spurs officially announced the decision to part ways with the Australian manager who ended their much-publicized 17-year trophy drought by beating Manchester United last month.
The decision to part company is certainly related to Spurs’ league form, as they lost 22 of their 38 games in the Premier League last season. Tottenham are prioritising improvement on all fronts and not just a singular competition, as well as developing the players part of their young project.
They have had sights on several candidates to replace the Australian, including former Ajax boss Francesco Farioli. Other high-profile names were mentioned in recent days, but their priority lies with someone who probably has plenty of experience in the Premier League, as their list also included Marco Silva, who seems open to joining Tottenham.
However, it is Thomas Frank who leads the queue, as Daniel Levy has met him several times over the recent period to finalise an appointment. Spurs are keen to lure in the Brentford boss as their next manager, with the 51-year-old thought to be keen on taking over the reins in North London.
Tottenham set for Thomas Frank appointment
Spurs feel the 51-year-old’s vast experience with Brentford as well as his steady progress in the Premier League has all the ingredients to succeed at a club of their choice. He also has a fantastic track record of developing young players, which is probably one of the more important factors in their pursuit of the Dane.
Tottenham are reportedly open to paying the release clause of around £10 million in his Brentford contract and signing the 51-year-old as Postecoglou’s replacement. There’s a positive feeling surrounding Frank in becoming Spurs’ next manager, as he will hope to achieve much more than his predecessors at the north London side.
