Marco Silva closing in on Tottenham move
Fulham boss Marco Silva is all set to join rivals Tottenham Hotspur as their new manager ahead of next season.
According to Record via SportWitness, Marco Silva is all set to become the new Tottenham manager. The Portuguese tactician is set to swap Fulham for the North London giants this summer. While Spurs have been linked with other top Premier League managers, they are on the verge of reaching an agreement to appoint Silva.
The 47-year-old has already managed four English clubs in his career and Spurs could end up being the fifth on his list. While he did have very short spells at Hull City and Watford, he did spend around 18 months at Everton before taking charge at Fulham.
After a break of over a year, Silva returned to management with the Fulham job in the summer of 2021. He has done quite an impressive job at the London club over the years and it has put him on the wishlist of quite a few top clubs.
With his contract running out in a year’s time, there was already a lot of talk about his future. While Fulham looked keen on tying him down to a new deal, they might not have to look for a new manager as he is close to joining rivals Tottenham.
The North London club finally parted ways with Ange Postecoglou on Friday just weeks after he led them to the Europa League title. Spurs could only manage a 17th-placed finish in the league and their poor performances throughout the campaign had put the Australian under immense pressure.
While winning the Europa League did help his cause, it wasn’t enough for Daniel Levy and his team to continue having him on their bench. It wasn’t that easy a decision but they have finally decided to part ways with him after a two-year-long spell.
Marco Silva to be the new Tottenham manager?
Spurs have already been looking for a new manager for some time now. Reports in England have linked them with Thomas Frank and Andoni Iraola. While both are quality options, the report from Record suggests Spurs are set to appoint Silva who has been doing wonders at Fulham over the years.
His attacking style of play and his track record have impressed the Spurs chief’s and they are already working to get a deal over the line. Silva is on the verge of becoming their new boss. Both parties are on the verge of reaching an agreement and everything suggests the Portuguese manager will succeed Postecoglou at Tottenham.
