Manchester United plot Bosman move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Manchester United are reportedly lining up a Bosman move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin but will face stiff competition for his signature.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a target for Manchester United heading into the summer transfer window. Along with the Red Devils, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham United are keen on the 28-year-old striker as per a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

The English international has decided to move on from Everton, and he does not want to sign a new deal with them. He is looking for a new challenge, and joining a club like Manchester United will be quite exciting for him.

Calvert-Lewin would be an underwhelming addition

Manchester United need a reliable striker this summer, but the 28-year-old could be an underwhelming acquisition for them. He has not been able to score goals consistently, and Manchester United need to aim higher if they want to fight for major trophies.

The 28-year-old striker has scored 18 goals in his last four seasons. That is simply not good enough for a player hoping to leave the line for Manchester United.

Even though he will be available on a free transfer, Manchester United should look elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Tottenham need more support for Dominic Solanke in the attack. However, they have secured Champions League football for the next season, and they need quality players. The Everton striker has struggled to find the back of the net consistently, and he is unlikely to make a big difference for them in the attack.

Similarly, Newcastle need a reliable alternative to Alexander Isak. The Swedish international is one of the best players in the Premier League, and they need a capable option as his understudy. The Everton striker is struggling for form and confidence. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle decides to make a move for him.

Finally, West Ham need a reliable striker next season. Niclas Fullkrug failed to deliver after his move from the Bundesliga at the start of last season. West Ham will not want to end up with another striker with an unreliable track record. They need a proven goal scorer, and the 28-year-old Everton striker is certainly not ideal.

He could be a very useful acquisition for bottom-half teams, but clubs harbouring ambitions of European football should steer clear of the Everton forward.
