Tottenham join Crystal Palace, Fulham in Reinildo Mandava chase

Tottenham are now in the race for Atletico Madrid wide man Reinildo Mandava, with Crystal Palace and Fulham also keen on the soon-to-be free agent.

According to Africa Foot, Reinildo Mandava is attracting big interest from Premier League clubs, with Tottenham the latest to enter the chase. Fulham and Crystal Palace are credited with an interest in the versatile wide man, who is expected to leave Atletico Madrid as a free agent after the Club World Cup.

Reinildo Mandava has made the necessary impact under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid, making over 100 appearances since signing from LOSC Lille in January 2022. His positional versatility allowed the Argentine manager to use him across the backline in his fluid system.

While he’s not the first name on the team sheet, Simeone considers him a valuable squad player, which has caught the attention of several clubs ahead of the summer. Reinildo’s current deal was about to expire at the end of this month, but with the Club World Cup around the corner, Atletico Madrid thought it wise to extend until August 2025.

Either way, Reinildo is expected to leave the club on a free transfer once the Club World Cup campaign ends, as he might be headed to the Premier League. Some clubs are looking at him with intent as his experience and availability on a free transfer, as Premier League sides, Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Fulham are the current interested parties.

Aston Villa and Manchester United held an interest before January, but at the time Atletico Madrid had no interest in parting ways with the defender. However, with a potential free transfer on the horizon, he could be a valuable addition to sides like Tottenham, Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Reinildo Mandava set for the Premier League?

The Mozambican defender will have plenty of choices as Tottenham are the latest to enter the chase for his signature. Spurs are likely to look for a backup defender to replace Ben Davies, who will leave the club, as Reinildo is similar in terms of the Welshman’s versatility.

Fulham are bracing for offers to come in for Antonee Robinson, and even if the American left-back ends up staying, Marco Silva would see Reinildo as a viable backup or competitor for the role. Similarly, Crystal Palace also have a shortage of options in the left-back role, as Ben Chilwell will return to Chelsea once his loan ends. Moreover, Palace’s system does favour someone like the Atletico Madrid wide player, who can also feature as part of the back three.
