Everton in transfer tussle to sign Ogun Aydin
Everton will reportedly compete in a three-way battle with Ajax and Lazio to sign 24-year-old Turkish winger Ogun Aydin from Fenerbahce in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Turkish outlet Sporx, Ogun Aydin is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are scouring the market for a productive wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Fenerbahce winger has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
Who is Ogun Aydin?
Ogun Aydin is the latest highly-rated footballer to rise in prominence in Turkiye. The country has produced several promising attackers in the last few years, with Arda Guler, Semih Kilicsoy, and Baris Alper Yilmaz making their mark. Meanwhile, Aydin has come leaps and bounds since joining Fenerbahce from Alanyaspor last summer.
The 24-year-old winger enjoyed a fruitful debut season with Fenerbahce, contributing to 15 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net eight times and providing seven assists. While Aydin was not a regular starter for the Super Lig giants, he made his mark in his limited opportunities.
Meanwhile, Aydin’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Ajax and SS Lazio are keen on signing the Turkish winger from Fenerbahce, but Everton will aim to beat the competition to his signature in the summer transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Everton’s interest in Ogun Aydin is understandable. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a productive wide attacker in the summer transfer window. While Dwight McNeil has returned from his long layoff on the sidelines, Everton did not complete permanent moves for Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom after their loan deals ended.
So, several versatile wide attackers, including Richarlison, are on Everton’s radar, with Aydin also a viable target for the Merseyside outfit. However, convincing Fenerbahce to part ways with the 24-year-old Turk will be a tall order for Everton and the other suitors.
The Turkish giants do not want to cash in on Aydin only a year after signing him from Alanyaspor last summer. So, it will be interesting to see if Everton can tempt Fenerbahce to sell the wide attacker in the coming months.
