Luis Diaz open to Liverpool exit, already fighting for summer departure amid Barcelona links

Luis Diaz is reportedly ready to part ways with Liverpool as he is keen on joining Hansi Flick’s Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Luis Diaz is set to leave Liverpool this summer amidst interest from the Middle East and Spain. The Reds are also ready to sanction his departure as long as their asking price of £72 million is met.

Diaz has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Merseyside club from FC Porto at the start of 2022. He was a regular starter for them throughout the 2024/25 season as they ended up winning the Premier League.

Having contributed towards 25 goals last season, he is quite highly rated by Arne Slot and with his contract running until 2027, the Dutch manager would be more than happy to have him around. But that is unlikely to happen as he seems ready to part ways with the club.

Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr are one of the clubs who are keen on his signature. They are set to enter into negotiations with Liverpool after getting central funding approval. The Reds won’t stand in his way and would let him leave if they receive a fee close to £72 million from any interested club.

Diaz to force his way out?

While the Saudi giants can certainly meet their demands, another report from Mundo Deportivo via SportWitness suggests he is not keen on joining Al-Nassr. The 28-year-old reportedly has his heart set on a move to Barcelona and is willing to force his way out.

The Catalan giants are on the lookout for more quality on the flanks and Diaz is their priority target for this summer ahead of Marcus Rashford and Nico Williams. Their sporting director, Deco is a massive fan and is pushing to bring him to the club.

He is aware that Barcelona are pushing hard to sign him and he is already fighting to force a departure. He has blocked renewal talks and his agents have informed the Merseyside club that he wants to leave them to join the Spanish giants this summer. Meanwhile, he has also turned down a lucrative deal from Al-Nassr.

Without a renewal, the Reds could be forced to sell him this summer and it might actually help them in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz as the transfer would cost in excess of €100 million.
