Inter Milan eyeing Marco Silva as Simone Inzaghi replacement

Tottenham suffer a blow in their pursuit of Marc Silva as Inter Milan are looking at him as an ideal replacement for Simone Inzaghi.

According to a report from TBR, Inter Milan are now keen on appointing Marco Silva as their next boss amidst uncertainty around the future of Simone Inzaghi. The Italian could be heading to the Middle East and they want the Fulham boss to take over from him.

It is a significant blow for Tottenham, who have been keeping a close eye on Silva for a while as they consider parting ways with Ange Postecoglou this summer. While the Australian departure looked certain following their dismal Premier League campaign, the Europa League triumph has complicated things.

Meanwhile, Silva, who took charge of the Cottagers in the summer of 2021, has made quite a name for himself with his impressive work at the club. The Portuguese manager’s style of play and his team’s consistent performances have put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs.

He still has another year left on his deal and Fulham are working hard to ensure he continues at the club. But, there is a release clause in his contract which could lead to his departure this summer.

Tottenham to face major roadblocks in their pursuit

Tottenham have their eyes set on him as a potential replacement for Postecoglou. Given his track record in the Premier League, they consider him an ideal fit for their project. While they are yet to make a final call on the Australian manager’s future, Silva is quite high on their wishlist.

Daniel Levy has already held talks with the Fulham manager regarding the job at the North London club. But with Postecoglou’s team winning the Europa League, his chances of staying have certainly increased.

Even if Spurs do go after Siva’s signature, signing him won’t be that straightforward as they will face competition from Inter Milan and more importantly, the release clause in his contract is relatively higher for an English club than for a foreign club.

Following the 5-0 thrashing at the hands of PSG in the Champions League final, Inter Milan look set to move on from Inzaghi, who has done a great job at the club over the years. With Marco Silva turning down a move to Al-Hilal, the Inter boss is now their top target and they are closing in on his signature.

Meanwhile, Inter want to replace him with the Fulham manager and are set to make moves to bring him to Milan this summer.
