Tottenham unwilling to pay £55 million to sign Tyler Dibling
Tottenham are unwilling to meet Southampton’s £55 million asking price for Tyler Dibling, with Liverpool also linked with the player.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham have retained an interest in Tyler Dibling ahead of the summer, though they are unwilling to match Southampton’s asking price of £55 million. The 19-year-old Englishman has made a sufficient impression on some of the top clubs including Liverpool, as Spurs are seen as one of the strongest contenders.
Tyler Dibling was heavily linked with Tottenham back in January when they wanted to sign the young attacking prodigy from Southampton. The 19-year-old Englishman has made a sufficient impression on some of the big clubs in the Premier League, as he’s expected to leave the relegated team.
While Dibling is not expected to force a move from Southampton, the South Coast side still have the power to keep him unless an interested team meets their valuation of the 19-year-old Englishman. The Saints were demanding as much as £100 million right around January, which did not sit well with some of the key suitors.
Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy had been working on a deal, as Spurs have seemingly retained an interest in the attacking prodigy. Spurs had hoped to sign him for less than half the £100 million demand from Southampton, as the Saints have placed a new £55 million asking price on the young attacker.
Tottenham have followed a trend of signing some of the talented young and established players, which has worked out well for them. While they are interested in Dibling, Spurs are not prepared to meet the £55 million asking price for the Southampton star, as Levy could open negotiations to bring the price down.
Liverpool unlikely to sign Tyler Dibling
Tottenham are seen as the front-runner for Dibling at the current moment, although they might face competition from some of their Premier League rivals. Liverpool were one of those who scouted Dibling recently and are credited with an interest.
However, with the Merseysiders planning on some rather expensive signings in the window, they are unlikely to spend a hefty sum on a player they potentially do not need at the present moment. Hence, Spurs could have a stronger say in negotiations as they could potentially convince Dibling of a move to north London over other destinations.
