Everton rival Newcastle United in Jack Grealish chase, Manchester City ready to sell
Everton will reportedly compete with Newcastle United to sign 29-year-old English international Jack Grealish from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Jack Grealish is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are combing the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window after parting ways with Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison. So, the Manchester City attacker has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
Meanwhile, the Citizens are ready to cash in on the out-of-favour attacker. The Englishman is also a target for Newcastle United heading into the summer transfer window. However, Grealish’s £300,000-a-week wages pose a problem for his suitors.
Jack Grealish and his Manchester City woes
Jack Grealish has struggled to stamp his authority since completing a big-money move from Aston Villa to Manchester City in August 2021. The Premier League bigwigs broke the bank to sign the 29-year-old nearly four years ago. However, the player has blown hot and cold throughout his spell with Manchester City.
The 39-cap English international managed only 1,521 minutes of game time across 32 outings in all competitions, finding the back of the net three times and providing five assists. However, Grealish’s stock in the market is high despite his struggles at Manchester City. Everton and Newcastle United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Newcastle United’s interest in Jack Grealish is understandable. The Magpies are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window after choosing not to replace Miguel Almiron in January. So, Grealish has emerged as a viable target for the Tyneside outfit.
As for Everton, Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom have returned to their parent clubs after their loan deals expired. So, the Toffees have dipped their toes in the market for a versatile attacker, with Grealish being an option worth considering. However, the 29-year-old Englishman’s £300,000-a-week wages pose a problem for Everton and Newcastle United.
So, unless the 39-cap English international is ready to take a pay cut, a summer move may not see the light of day. However, with Manchester City prepared to cash in on Grealish and the player willing to embark on a new adventure, a summer exit is on the cards.
