Brentford make approach for Caoimhin Kelleher, West Ham United also keen

Thomas Frank’s Brentford have enquired about the availability of Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher amidst interest from rivals West Ham United.

Brentford are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper as their number one, Mark Flekken, is closing in on a move away. According to Lyall Thomas, the Bees have their eyes set on Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher and have approached the Reds as they look to strike a deal for him.

Another report from Liverpool Echo suggests the Merseyside club are ready to cash in on the Irish shot-stopper. They are ready to listen to offers in excess of £20 million. While Brentford have already made a move, they could face competition from West Ham United, who have a definite interest in the 26-year-old.

Kelleher has come up the ranks at Liverpool and has been a part of their first team since 2019. He has spent several years as an understudy to first-choice keeper Alisson Becker. The Irish international has done wonders every time he has stepped in goal to cover for the Brazilian international.

Despite his impressive performances, Caoimhin Kelleher is well aware of the fact that he is unlikely to be a first-choice at Anfield anytime soon. Alisson is set to continue at the club, and they also have Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is set to arrive at Anfield this summer.

Brentford and West Ham could battle for Kelleher

Caoimhin Kelleher is keen on playing regular first-team football, and he is set to leave Liverpool this summer. With only a year left on his deal, the Reds are also ready to cash in on him as they do not want to risk losing out on him for free.

The Merseyside outfit are willing to listen to offers over £20 million, with Brentford and West Ham United have emerged as potential destinations for the 26-year-old. The Bees have been forced to look for a new goalkeeper as Mark Flekken is closing in on a move to Bayer Leverkusen.

They want an ideal replacement and believe Kelleher could be just the perfect fit for them. Meanwhile, West Ham could rival them as they look for an upgrade in goal. The Liverpool shot-stopper could be an instant hit at the London club, and they are certainly quite serious about making a move. With Kelleher likely to be available for a cut-price fee, it will be interesting to see who ends up winning the race for his signature.
