Predicted Manchester United lineup against West Ham United: Shaw, Eriksen to return; Maguire set for rest
Luke Shaw and Christian Eriksen will return to the Manchester United starting lineup when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.
Manchester United will be eager to start building momentum towards the UEFA Europa League final when they lock horns with West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Ruben Amorim has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
However, the Portuguese tactician will likely rest a few players to start preserving their fitness levels building up to the UEFA Europa League final. Harry Maguire may be one of those players, while Amorim revealed Noussair Mazraoui and Alejandro Garnacho felt tired in the game against Athletic Club.
Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Costa, Ayden Heaven, Toby Collyer, and Joshua Zirkzee remain on the sidelines for the away side. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim revealed whether he would rest any players against West Ham.
The Manchester United manager said, “Bruno doesn’t have the problem of any injury [touches wood] but Harry has. So we have to manage that but they have to play and it is better to play than to stay out.”
“I have to make a choice. What is the best for the club, not what is the best for me. I make a choice in this moment. I’m going to try to save all the players because it’s really important for us to win the final.”
Andre Onana will retain his spot between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in front of him against West Ham United on Sunday. The central defensive unit should feature Tyler Fredricson, Victor Lindelof, and Leny Yoro.
Noussair Mazraoui may continue as the right wing-back, but Luke Shaw should return to the starting lineup as the left wing-back. As for the midfield unit, Christian Eriksen will likely line up alongside Manuel Ugarte in the double pivot. Finally, Ramsus Hojlund will lead the line for the away side against West Ham, with Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho providing creative support.
Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Fredricson, Lindelof, Yoro; Mazraoui, Ugarte, Eriksen, Shaw; Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund
