Arsenal, Newcastle United and Aston Villa interested in signing Alberto Moleiro
Arsenal, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are the teams interested in Las Palmas attacking midfielder Alberto Moleiro ahead of the summer.
According to OB, Alberto Moleiro has plenty of suitors from the Premier League ahead of the summer. Arsenal and Newcastle United are the sides keen on the attacking midfielder, who will enter the final year of his deal with a €60 million release clause attached. Fichajes claims that Aston Villa want him as well.
Las Palmas are eager to keep hold of Alberto Moleiro, after a productive season from the 21-year-old attacking midfielder. The player wants to thrive in Spanish football, although the interest coming from England may tempt the player to decide his future.
The interest from Premier League clubs dates back to the period before the January window, as Arsenal were one of those keen then. The Gunners had been looking for a creative midfielder who could deputise for Martin Odegaard and have so far not found a solution.
They had already sent Fabio Vieira on loan to former side FC Porto, while many had thought youngster Ethan Nwaneri would fill the gap, but, he’s seen more as a winger. Hence, Mikel Arteta could be in the market for a new attacking midfielder, as they could add Moleiro to their list. They do face competition from some of their English rivals, while Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal were also keen back then.
Newcastle United were also interested then, as Eddie Howe has been looking to add some dynamism and creativity from central areas in his team. For Arsenal and the Magpies, the stumbling block could be Moleiro’s €60 million release clause. However, with his contract expiring in 2026, there’s plenty of room for negotiations, as either of those teams could make a knockdown offer for the Spaniard in the summer.
Aston Villa are interested in Alberto Moleiro
As per Fichajes, Aston Villa are also keen on the €60 million-rated La Liga whizkid from Las Palmas. Unai Emery has reportedly monitored Moleiro’s progress in Spain and could push director Monchi to make a move for the attacking midfielder.
Monchi, who knows the Spanish markets all too well, is also a specialist in negotiating favourable deals. It could be a similar situation to the move for Pau Torres, which saw Aston Villa pay considerably less than the release clause. In Moleiro’s case, he will have a year remaining on his deal, which could give Monchi the upper hand in negotiations.
