Manchester City will reject loan approaches for Jack Grealish

Manchester City will not entertain loan bids for 29-year-old English attacker Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window amid his links with Aston Villa and Tottenham.

According to a report by talkSPORT, Jack Grealish faces an uncertain future at Manchester City heading into the summer transfer window. Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the English international. However, City will not entertain any loan offers for the struggling attacker as they “are reluctant to weaken the squad by sanction a temporary departure”.

Jack Grealish and his Manchester City struggles

Jack Grealish has been an underwhelming addition to the Manchester City squad, to say the least since arriving from Aston Villa in a deal worth £100 million in August 2021. The Englishman was among the best players in the Premier League four years ago but has barely made his mark during his stint at the Etihad.

The 29-year-old has seen his game time dwindle with each passing season, and he has managed only 1,520 minutes of action across 31 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with three goals and five assists. However, Grealish’s stock in the market remains high despite his struggles at Manchester City.

The winter transfer window saw links with several European bigwigs, including Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan. However, a move across the Premier League might be on the cards for the English international, with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur ready to prise him away from Manchester City.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Aston Villa’s interest in Jack Grealish is understandable. Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio will return to their parent clubs after the 2024/25 season ends, and it is unclear if the West Midlands club will seal permanent deals for the duo. So, the Manchester City outcast has emerged as a viable alternative on Aston Villa’s wishlist.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, the 29-year-old Englishman has been on the North London club’s radar for a long time. Richarlison will likely depart from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window. In addition, Timo Werner will not seal a permanent deal after his loan spell ends. So, Grealish is an option worth considering.

However, Manchester City will not consider loan bids for the English international, as they are “reluctant to weaken the squad by sanction a temporary departure”. So, it will be interesting to see if they receive sufficient offers from Aston Villa and Tottenham.
