Tottenham eyeing Carlo Ancelotti as Ange Postecoglou replacement

Tottenham Hotspur might turn to under-fire Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti to replace Ange Postecoglou this summer.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Carlo Ancelotti is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a manager amid uncertainties surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future. So, the Real Madrid boss has emerged as a target for the North London club.

Carlo Ancelotti and his legend

Carlo Ancelotti has been one of the best managers in the world for over two decades. One of the most successful tacticians in footballing history, he was a midfielder during his time as a footballer and turned out for Serie A bigwigs like AS Roma and AC Milan. He also represented Italy 26 times, scoring one goal.

The 65-year-old entered the managerial sphere in 1995, taking over at Reggiana and spending a year with them. Since then, Ancelotti has represented nine clubs, enjoying successful stints with Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid. However, his triumphant campaigns in several competitions with Real Madrid have earned him an all-time great status.

The Italian tactician has won over a dozen trophies across two stints with Real Madrid, including three UEFA Champions League titles. However, the reigning La Liga champions risk finishing the 2024/25 season without a trophy, with Ancelotti under fire at the Santiago Bernabeu. He might not be without a job for long, with Tottenham Hotspur vying for his signature.

London return on the horizon?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Carlo Ancelotti is understandable. The Lilywhites are combing the market for a manager heading into the summer amid uncertainties surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future. The Australian tactician has overseen a disastrous 2024/25 campaign, with Tottenham at risk of finishing in the 17th spot in the Premier League standings.

The only way the 2024/25 season is anywhere close to successful will be if the Lilywhites win the UEFA Europa League. So, Postecoglou’s future is rightly uncertain, with several candidates, including Russell Martin, emerging on Tottenham’s radar. However, Ancelotti is also a viable target, with his Real Madrid future in the air.

As for the former Chelsea manager, the 65-year-old Italian tactician is also a target for the Brazilian national team. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for Ancelotti amid uncertainties surrounding his Real Madrid future.
