Predicted Barcelona lineup against Celta Vigo: Pedri in for Gavi; Inigo Martinez at the back

Pedri and Inigo Martinez will return to the Barcelona starting lineup against Celta Vigo at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Saturday.

Barcelona will aim to inch closer to the league title when they welcome Celta Vigo to Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Saturday afternoon. Hansi Flick has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen (knee), Alejandro Balde (hamstring), Marc Casado (knee), and Marc Bernal (knee) remain on the sidelines. While ter Stegen is closing in on returning to action, that might only happen in the final weeks of the 2024/25 season.

Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Flick provided a fitness update on Jules Kounde. The French international has shown incredible fitness in the 2024/25 season, barely missing any game time thus far.

The Barcelona manager said, “The problem with Kounde is that if one day we do 30 minutes less training he goes running off to Sitges. He’s an incredible player and he’s at his physical peak. I talk to them and they are honest about how they are physically. You can also see it in the data we have. But I need them to be honest with me and Kounde tells me he’s fine.”

Flick also spoke about Dani Olmo’s progress and discussed the possibility of the Spanish international starting this weekend. The Geramn tactician said, “He’s ready, but we’ll see tomorrow. Fermin did very well too, but we’ll see.”

While Olmo is ready to start, Fermin Lopez should reprise the no. 10 role, with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal being the two wide attackers. Robert Lewandowski will lead the line for Barcelona against Celta Vigo. As for the midfield unit, Pedri should line up alongside Frenkie de Jong in the double pivot, with Gavi dropping to the bench.

Wojciech Szczesny will retain his spot between the sticks, with the Blaugrana lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Celta Vigo on Saturday. The backline should see one change, with Inigo Martinez replacing Ronald Araujo as Pau Cubarsi’s central defensive partner. Finally, Jules Kounde and Gerard Martin will complete the numbers at the back.

Predicted Barcelona XI: Szczesny; Kounde, Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Martin; de Jong, Pedri; Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Raphinha; Lewandowski
