Everton considering Mike Biereth swoop
Everton will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old Danish international Mika Biereth from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Mika Biereth is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are combing the market for a striker amid uncertainties surrounding Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s long-term future. So, the AS Monaco attacker has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
Mika Biereth and his career revival
Mika Biereth has hit the ground running since joining AS Monaco from Sturm Graz in a deal worth €15 million in the winter transfer window. A native of London, the Dane spent his formative years in England and graduated from the youth division at Arsenal. However, he could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Emirates and landed on his feet at Sturm Graz.
The 22-year-old was exceptional in the first half of the 2024/25 season and has continued his brilliant run in Ligue 1 since joining AS Monaco in January. Biereth’s combined tally for the ongoing campaign is mind-boggling as he has contributed to 34 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 26 times and providing eight assists.
Biereth has amassed 12 goals and three assists in 15 appearances for AS Monaco, and his exploits for the Ligue 1 outfit have piqued the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Everton will be among the prospective suitors vying for the signature of the Danish international heading into the summer transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Everton’s interest in Mika Biereth makes sense. The Toffees are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s long-term future. The Englishman has entered the final few months of his contract and will likely leave Everton as a free agent.
In addition, the Merseyside club will unlikely trigger the purchase option to seal a permanent deal for the injury-struck Armando Broja. So, several candidates, including Evan Ferguson, have emerged on Everton’s radar. However, Biereth is also a viable target for the Premier League club.
However, a summer move for the 22-year-old Danish international will be a tall order, considering he joined AS Monaco in a deal worth €15 million a few months ago. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the former Arsenal whizkid.
