Jurgen Klopp open to Real Madrid job

Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly open to returning to the managerial world by joining Real Madrid as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement ahead of the 2025/26 season.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Jurgen Klopp is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are weighing up parting ways with Carlo Ancelotti amid a sub-par 2024/25 campaign. They have identified Jurgen Klopp as a candidate to replace the Italian tactician, with the former Liverpool manager ready to take over at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The rise and rise of Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp is one of the most legendary managers of all time even though he has not won dozens of trophies. However, his impact at the club level is immeasurable, considering what they have been up against during his tenure with his teams. He ensured stability at FSV Mainz 05 before guiding Borussia Dortmund to three trophies, including successive Bundesliga titles.

However, Klopp’s stock skyrocketed during his spell with Liverpool, with the Merseyside outfit winning several trophies under his guidance. The 57-year-old ended Liverpool’s long wait for the elusive Premier League title, with the Reds also winning the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup with the manager in charge.

The German tactician called time on his legendary stint with Liverpool last year, and he has been with the Red Bull group as the Head of Global Soccer. However, recent reports have claimed that Klopp is ready to return to the managerial sphere, with the Brazilian national side a possible appointment. However, his next destination might be Real Madrid.

La Liga adventure beckons?

Real Madrid’s interest in Jurgen Klopp makes sense. The reigning La Liga champions are combing the managerial market for a long-term replacement for Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian tactician is at a crossroads in his second spell with Real Madrid, and he might depart from the Bernabeu after the 2024/25 season ends.

Recent reports have claimed that Los Blancos might wield the axe on Ancelotti after the Copa del Rey final and want a replacement ahead of the 2025/26 season. So, Klopp has emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, with the former Liverpool boss ready to end his managerial exile by joining the Spanish club.

With Klopp open to joining Real Madrid, it will not be surprising to see him take over at the Bernabeu before the 2025/26 season kicks off. It will be interesting to see if Ancelotti’s spell with the Merengues ends in the coming weeks.
