Chelsea, Crystal Palace rival Tottenham in Kyle Walker-Peters chase

Chelsea and Crystal Palace are in the mix for Kyle Walker-Peters as they are ready to rival Tottenham Hotspur in the hunt for the free agent.

According to Caught Offside, Kyle Walker-Peters is expected to attract substantial interest ahead of the summer. The versatile defender is set to leave Southampton on a free transfer after declining a new contract, as Chelsea and Crystal Palace are ready to rival Tottenham Hotspur in the chase for the 28-year-old.

Southampton are on the way back to the Championships after having a disastrous season upon their return to the Premier League. The Saints are on course to finish the campaign with one of the worst records of all time, as barring a few individual performances in the team there are hardly any positives to find.

Kyle Walker-Peters has been one of those bright sparks, as the 28-year-old versatile Premier League defender has stood his ground with some good displays. He has already declined a new contract offer from Southampton, thus reiterating his desire to stay in the Premier League, as he’s anticipating some proposals from top-flight sides.

West Ham United and Tottenham are keen, as it’s the interest from his former side that could have a telling effect on his decision-making. Having made it through the ranks at Spurs, he did end up making 24 appearances for the senior side before moving along to another challenge,

With Walker-Peters now available on a free transfer around the summer window, Tottenham are interested, as they were open to bringing him back at the end of January. He will be tempted by the prospect of returning to North London, although the interest from other clubs will be detrimental to understanding where he might join next.

Chelsea and Crystal Palace keen on Kyle Walker-Peters

Chelsea are also keen on Walker-Peters as they might consider the prospect of adding a free agent to the mix. The Blues are also potentially the only one among those interested to offer him European football next season which could be key in the 28-year-old’s decision-making. However, the level of competition at Stamford Bridge will not guarantee the defender a fixed place in the team.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are also keen, and unlike Chelsea and Tottenham could provide him with a more comfortable scenario due to the system Oliver Glasner plays. The Eagles deploy a back three something similar to Southampton’s, and while he may not have European football at Selhurst Park, he could potentially come into the side and dream of playing more regularly.
