Predicted Chelsea lineup against Legia Warszawa: Maresca to ring in the changes; Nkunku up front

Enzo Maresca will ring in the changes when Chelsea and Legia Warszawa clash in the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final second leg on Thursday.

Chelsea will aim to clinch a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final when they host Legia Warszawa at Stamford Bridge for the quarter-final second leg on Thursday night. Enzo Maresca has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Wesley Fofana is the most notable absentee as the French defender continues to recover from a long-term hamstring injury. Romeo Lavia and Marc Guiu are also in the treatment room due to thigh issues.

In addition, Mykhailo Mudryk remains on the sidelines due to suspension after failing a doping test a few months ago. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Maresca did not provide a fitness update on any player but discussed the importance of Thursday’s match.

The Chelsea manager said, “We try to always prioritise the next match. The next match is tomorrow night and that for us is an important game because it gives us the chance to reach a semi-final of a European competition. That is the first one. So hopefully, we can reach the semi-final, and then focus on Sunday.”

“The Premier League games, the six games we have, are all going to be finals. I’ve said many times, we win a game at this stage, you see yourself there and are happy, but if you don’t win, you can be a little bit sad or upset. But it’s how you manage in this moment the emotions. We have been there, and we want to be there again by the end of the season.”

Filip Jorgensen should take his spot between the sticks, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-3-3 formation in front of him against Legia Warszawa on Thursday. The backline will feature Josh Acheampong, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, and Samuel Rak-Sakyi.

As for the midfield unit, Reece James should line up alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Mathis Amougou in the middle of the park. Finally, Christopher Nkunku should lead the line for the home side against Legia Warszawa, with Shumaira Mheuka and Tyrique George being the two wide attackers.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Jorgensen; Acheampong, Adarabioyo, Badiashile, Rak-Sakyi; James, Dewsbury-Hall, Amougou; George, Nkunku, Mheuka
